Program for Older Adults (POA)

Program Description

  • Program For Older Adults is a 57-course curriculum focusing on health literacy, life and employment skills, technology, fine art, and tutoring.
  • Program instruction guides students toward structured competencies that improve physical and mental health, cognitive fitness, self-maintenance and civic engagement.
  • Instruction takes place in a variety of classroom settings, both traditional and nontraditional and continues to evolve to meet the changing needs of our region.

 

Target Student Population

  • The curriculum targets a diverse population of learners, age 60 and older, with different needs, levels of health and interests.
  • The classes have no prerequisite requirements.

  

Program Focus

  • Guide students toward structured competencies that improve:
    • Physical Health
    • Cognitive Fitness
    • Workforce Involvement (Paid or Volunteer)
    • Self-Maintenance/Independence
    • Civic Engagement
